The Sport and Performance Psychology Lab at the University of Toronto focuses on understanding the psychological aspects of sport participation and performance.

Our primary areas of research are:

  • stress, coping, emotions, and emotion regulation in sport

  • social and interpersonal processes of emotion, emotion regulation, and coping in sport

  • athlete mental health and well-being

  • youth athletes, parent and coach influences in youth sport

We use a variety of qualitative and quantitative approaches to understand the experiences of athletes, parents, and coaches to promote positive emotions, relationships, and performance in sport.
